Peters Lawn Service

Whether you live in the city, the country, or on the lake, Peters Lawn Service can create a simple plan to help manage your lawn.

Our goal is to provide environmentally responsible lawn care. We can create a lawn care program that includes the appropriate application of fertilizer and pesticides, as well as core aeration, over seeding, and other best management practices. We encourage low maintenance landscapes, the responsible use of water and proper plant species.

There are many positive environmental benefits of turf, flower gardens, and natural areas. Quality residential landscapes add value to your home, your lifestyle, the community, and wildlife.

Poor lawn care practices and the lack of educated consumers can result in potential risks to our environment, homeowners, children, pets and wildlife. Educate yourself and leave the application to us.

Custom Lawn Care Programs

Our custom program gives you more for less. We can create a 2, 3, 4, or 5 step lawn care program that best fits your lawn, lifestyle and budget.

  • Granular Fertilizer:
Our custom blend slow release granular fertilizer has a well balanced, high percentage analysis to fit your lawns needs. Fertilizer is applied in the Early Spring (April 1 to May15) and again in the Early Fall (August 15 to October 1).

  • Crabgrass Control:
Pre emergent control will prevent annual crabgrass from invading your lawn. This application will also control early season broadleaf weeds and is applied Late Spring (April 20 to June 1).

  • Broadleaf Weed Control:
Take the guess work out of weed control. Allow our experienced, licensed applicators do the job the right way at the right time. Depending on the weather and your program, this application is applied Spring through Late Fall. (May 1 to Oct. 30)

  • Core Aeration:
Strengthen your lawns root system and create healthier turf through core aeration. This will help break down thatch, reduce soil compaction, and allow water and nutrients to go deeper into the soil. Depending on your lawn type, we recommend aerating your lawn at least every other year or as much as twice in a year. Aeration is performed in the Spring (April 15 to June 1) and Fall (August 15 to October 15).

  • Overseeding:
Overseeding at the time of aeration is a great way to improve your turf. Core aeration provides seed to soil contact through the breakdown of holes in the soil and soil cores left on the surface. Late Summer and Fall are the best time to overseed. Spring overseeding is also good, but be aware that a pre emergent crabgrass application will prevent grass seed from germinating.

  • Non Selective Weed Control:
Let our licensed applicators take care of your trouble spots with our scheduled maintenance. Common applications include weed and grass control in commercial/industrial parking lots, gravel lots, and fence lines, or elimination of grass and weeds in preparation of seeding.

Control of other Grassy weeds in cool season turf:

Often times, homeowners confuse crabgrass with other grassy weeds. Quackgrass, Tall Fescue and Yellow Nutsedge are perennial warm season grassy weeds that invade our local lawns. Once untreatable in cool season turf, except for digging them up or spraying a non selective herbicide (Roundup), these grassy weeds can now be effectively controlled with a multi-step plan.

  • Lawn Renovation:
Is your lawn is dead or dying and in need of renovation? We can provide a plan to restore your lawn.

  • Soil Testing:
An evaluation of soil fertility and pH level is an important first step in developing a plan or diagnosing problems in your lawn. Contact PLS for help or visit the University of Minnesota Soil Testing Laboratory.

Final Grading & Seeding
