Lawn Seeding
Do it right the first time.
If you are looking to establish a new lawn, seeding can be the perfect solution. Seeding is less expensive than sodding, and once established, a seeded lawn will be more drought tolerant and disease resistant. There are some things to consider, however. Successfully seeding a new lawn requires optimum timing, may require watering, and can pose erosion control challenges. Choosing the best seed mix is very important when establishing a nice lawn.
Peters Lawn Service provides Final Grading and seeding for new lawns, low maintenance areas and prairie borders. We have the ability to turn your rough grade into a perfectly graded seedbed. Whether you want a nice turf grass, shady mix, low maintenance ecograss, or a native prairie grass & wildflower border or raingarden, we have the ability and experience to get the job done right. We are sure you will be happy with the results.
Lawn Seeding tips:
Did you know that most lawn seed mixes sold at the big box stores are not even designed for our area! Most have a high percentage of annual grass that is quick to establish and will die after the first season. Most mixes also have poor germination rates, may contain weed seeds, and contain grasses that you would not want in a nice lawn. Seeding rates may be difficult for the average person to calculate and when incorrect , can have a negative impact on seed germination.
Overseeding
Overseeding an existing lawn is a great cultural practice that can renovate a thin, poor lawn. Many times, new lawns are seeded with poor mixes or existing lawns have thinned out. Overseeding with the proper seed mix can turn that old, dry lawn into a greener, thicker, more drought tolerant lawn that you can be proud of. Soil conditions are also a major factor when dealing with a thin, poor lawn and should also be addressed.
Core Aeration & Overseeding is a great way to make sure your seed will actually germinate. When you overseed after core aeration, seeds will find a nice home in the holes created and next to the soil cores left on the surface. As the holes collapse and the cores melt back into the lawn, your seed will be sure to have the soil contact needed for proper germination.
Peters Lawn Service provides Core Aeration & overseeding using the best seed available for your site.
