Create Your Plan
Making Lawn Care Easy.
Most lawn care companies are selling a generic plan that has 4 weed control applications and up to 5 fertilizer applications in a single season. These applications are often watered down and need repeated visits to be effective. While this might be good for their bottom line, it is not the best plan for your lawn or the environment. When it comes to creating a plan to care for your lawn, there are some basic principles to understand and some questions that need to be answered.
At Peters Lawn Service, we recommend a plan that is based on a quality fertilization program and soil building solutions first and responsible, effective weed control applications second. The goal should be to create an optimum growing environment, a vigorous lawn, and a healthy ecosystem. This will help to prevent weeds and disease from invading your lawn and will allow for a limited use of pesticides and herbicides. From one application to a five step plan, we guarantee that when we visit your property, you will receive a quality application that will not require a repeat visit to achieve the desired results.
To create your plan, consider these criteria:
- Lawn Mowing
Who will be mowing your lawn? They will have the biggest impact on the health and appearance of your lawn. We put this first because it truly is the most important step in maintaining a healthy, weed free lawn. We provide seasonal contracts for mowing. One time service may be accepted.
- Core Aeration
Are you going to aerate? Most of our local lawns will benefit from this service. It is the most important cultural practice available and performed regularly; it will create a better growing environment. Annual or semi-annual core aeration is recommended. We provide core aeration in the Spring and in most situations recommend it in the Fall. Overseeding is also available. - Fertilizer
Your lawn is hungry, and it needs to be fed. After all, a vigorous lawn is the best weed prevention there is. Your options will vary in price. 2-3 applications are normally required to keep your lawn green, growing and healthy. We provide fertilization in the Spring and again in the Fall. (Fall being best if choosing just one application)Granular Fertilizer 29-0-14-6 (2 applications recommended)
Premium 40% Organic Based Fertilizer (2 applications recommended)
Corn Gluten Meal - 100% Organic (2 or 3 applications recommended) - Weed Control
Do you have weed problems? Are you in control of your lawn? You may need one or two applications per season. (Or none at all – organic). In Late Spring we provide a pre-emergent crabgrass control with Broadleaf Weed Control.
In the Spring, Summer, and Fall we provide Broadleaf Weed Control applications.
We also provide herbicide applications for other Grassy Weeds as part of a renovation plan.
